Riccia fluitans is a bright green, fast-growing plant most commonly used as a floating species or attached to hardscape to create vivid foreground detail. Its fine, branching structure gives a light, fresh look and strong colour contrast in planted aquariums.

When left floating, it spreads quickly across the surface and helps diffuse light. When tied or glued to rocks or mesh, it can be shaped into low cushions or carpets under strong lighting and stable conditions. CO₂ is strongly recommended if used submerged, as it encourages compact growth and prevents it from breaking apart. Regular trimming is essential to keep it tidy and well attached.
